As a wedding photographer, The Madrona Hotel in Healdsburg, nestled in Northern California’s wine country, is a dream venue. With its blend of historic charm and luxury, every corner of this 1881 estate offers unique and timeless backdrops, from vintage interiors to lush gardens.
For this wedding, the design was inspired by an old-world, 1940s French aesthetic, perfectly aligning with the hotel’s rich history. The ceremony featured Sonoma's rolling greens, enhanced by monochromatic florals from Noble Floral Co. Soft ivory seating, light wood chairs, and St. Tropez-inspired scalloped umbrellas added a touch of modern elegance to the Victorian vibe.
At the reception, it was all about experience over extravagant details. The couple focused on elevated culinary moments, like caviar pairings and dirty martinis, instead of grand florals. The tablescape combined Victorian elegance with modern luxury, featuring layered patterned linens, velvet napkins, and vintage silverware. Thoughtful touches like garlic heads and monobloom florals gave the design texture, while Italian calligraphy and slingback chairs added a contemporary twist.
Capturing the rich tones of the estate, from muted brick and blush hues to the lush florals, made this wedding one of my favorites. The Madrona’s iconic charm, warm bread, signature cocktails, and immersive design made it a truly unforgettable day.
