FAQS

I know you have questions… so let me give you some answers

Here are the most frequently asked questions I get. Take a look and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have more!

Reach out!

1. Where are you located and do you travel?

My fam and I live just down the hill from Lake Tahoe, California. And while most of my weddings are local to California, I am more than willing to hop on a plane and go wherever your love leads! I’m no stranger to traveling and my passport is always up-to-date! Lets gooo!!

2. Are travel fees included in your packages?

Travel fees are based on location. For weddings and sessions within 50 miles, mileage will be charged at $0.59/mile. For weddings and sessions farther than 50 miles, travel costs include mileage, food per diem, and accommodation for a minimum of 2 nights. For weddings father from home, transportation may include flight, rental car, food per diem, and accommodation for a minimum of 2 nights. Going International? My passport is ready, suitcase half-packed, and I'm always down to rough it if that's what you're planning. Let’s go explore!!

3. How would you describe your style?

I am a documentary style photographer, which means I photograph in order to tell the story. I’m not trying to recreate something someone else has done or follow after the latest editing trend. Instead, I aim to capture images that communicate who you are and show the beauty in your relationship. Images that help you relive the moments you can’t reproduce... moments that are real and honest, filled with meaning and emotion.

4. What if I'm awkward in front of the camera?

First of all, I doubt it. Second of all, does anyone really feel natural in front of a camera? The good news is that's on me! Photoshoots with me are candid and fun. Forget stiff poses and fake smiles - you'll cuddle, play, and laugh for real. I promise you'll relax in no time and your photos will not look posed or stiff.

5. Are you the photographer for everyone?

Oh, I’m so glad you asked this one. While people are the reason I love this job, I do find that my style of shooting and personality jive best with couples that are more adventurous and laid back. My favorite types of couples are those who desire experience over tradition (even though I love some traditions) and who prefer candid, unplanned moments over posed ones. My natural habitat is outside, and I love it when my couples feel at home there. I’m for couples who throw caution to the wind, aren’t afraid to get a little muddy in their fancy clothes and who love to hike. Really, my ideal clients are a lot like me - fun, adventurous and passionate about people and their stories.

6. How do we book you?

My booking process is super easy. Once you inquire with me you can expect to hear back within 48 hours with details about my availability & next steps. In order to officially book your date with me, I require 50% non-refundable payment and a signed contract. Once all that's done, the fun part of planning your wedding begins! Not sure exactly what you need? We'll talk through all of this together.

7. Do you shoot with backup?

Always! II have a backup camera body, lenses, batteries, hard-drives and I back up the images in camera while shooting. Your wedding images are backed up to two separate hard drives as soon as I get home and your wedding day cards do not get reused until your gallery has been delivered. At all times there are three copies of your wedding day images until you full gallery has been fully edited and delivered.

8. What outfit should we wear for our photoshoot?

Great question! My number one piece of advise is to wear what you feel comfortable & confident in. As we near your session, I'll pass along more tips and a Pinterest board I've thrown together of some of the best colors that look good in your location.

9. How many photos are included?

Every session and wedding are different and I shoot to capture the day as it unfolds, rather than attempt to force a final number. I don’t promise an exact number or give a cutoff number. On average you can expect to receive approximately 50-75 high-res edited images per hour.

10. When can we expect our photos back?

Delivery times for weddings and elopements are 4-6 weeks during slow season (November - March) and 6-8 weeks during busy season (April-October). Lifestyle sessions take a maximum of 6 weeks to land in your inbox. I try to get them back to you as soon as possible, but I always want to make sure they are ready for you to enjoy!

11. How do I receive my images?

I deliver all high-resolution files in an online gallery for digital download. I recommend (really I instruct) that you download and back up your photos right away! And go print some of those babies and get them on the wall!

12. Do you do partnerships with brands and other businesses?

YES, and I love doing them! There are so many brands, businesses and non-profits out there doing amazing things and I love the chance to work with others! Shoot me an email if you are interested in connecting!

13. What if you can't make it to our wedding?

For us to even get to that point I would have to be in the hospital or having a family emergency/death. Heaven forbid something comes up that prevents me from being at your wedding, a highly trained professional wedding photographer from my inner community of photographers I trust with my business (and have worked with in the past) would take my place and shoot your wedding for me. I would still handle all of the culling, editing and image delivery.

14. Do you give out RAW (unedited) photos?

That’s a resounding no from me! I once heard it put that asking a photographer for their RAW photos is like asking a master artist for their unfinished painting. Editing is half the art and half the fun!

ready to work together?

15. How much editing is done on the images?

I select and edit all final images for color, exposure, composition and style. I’m not into “skinny editing” and extensive image processing because I believe you and your story are perfect the way you are! Don’t worry though…when it comes to minor blemishes (like a pimple or a temporary scar), I’m happy to brush it out of the photos.

16. How much coverage do we need?

This depends largely on how you envision your day. Every day and every couple is different. Some brides and grooms know exactly what pictures they want during their wedding, while others don't have any plans.. On average, Elopements usually need 4-6 hours and bigger weddings often use 8-10 hours. Once you determine what you want to be captured, I will help you create a stress-free timeline that allows you to live fully in the moment.
