WANNA REACH OUT TO ME? C'MON!

1. Where are you located and do you travel?

My husband and I live just outside of Sacramento, California! And while most of my weddings are local to California, I am more than willing to hop on a plane and go wherever your love leads! I’m no stranger to travelling and my passport is always up-to-date! Lets gooo!!

2. Are travel fees included in your packages?

Travel fees are customized based on location. For weddings within 1.5 hours, mileage will be charged at $0.575/mile. For weddings farther than 1.5 hours from me, travel costs include mileage, food per diem, and accommodation for a minimum of 2 nights. For weddings father from home, transportation may include flight, rental car, food per diem, and accommodation for a minimum of 2 nights. Going International? My passport is ready, suitcase half-packed, and I'm always down to rough it if that's what you're planning. Let’s go explore!!

3. How would you describe your style?

I am a documentary style photographer, which means I photograph in order to tell the story. I’m not trying to recreate something someone else has done or follow after the latest editing trend. Instead, I aim to capture images that communicate who you are and show the beauty in your relationship. Images that help you relive the moments you can’t reproduce...moments that are raw and honest, filled with meaning and emotion.

4. What do you shoot?

I specialize in photographing Weddings, Elopements and Couples. And while I do occasionally shoot a family session or friend’s maternity photos, I have found that by focusing on one area of photography I am able to better serve my couples. If you are interested in something different, shoot me an email and let’s chat through the options!

5. Are you the photographer for everyone?

Oh, I’m so glad you asked this one. While people are the reason I love this job, I do find that my style of shooting and personality jive best with specific couples more than others. My favorite type of couples are those who desire experience over tradition (even though I love some traditions) and who prefer candid, unplanned moments over posed ones. My natural habitat is outside, and I love it when my couples feel at home there. I’m for couples who throw caution to the wind, aren’t afraid to get a little muddy in their fancy clothes and who love to hike. Really, my ideal clients are a lot like me - fun, adventurous and passionate about people and their stories.

6. what kind of gear do you use?

I am a Canon girl through and through! My first camera was a Canon, and while I tried out Sony for a hot second, nothing beats the colors and skin tones that Canon captures (in my humble opinion). I shoot with a 5D MK IV and prime lenses. My 35mm f1/4 L II series lens LIVES on my camera! It’s my favorite for sessions and weddings and is perfectly complimented with my 85mm on wedding days. I cull with Photo Mechanic (life saver) and edit using Lightroom.

7. Do you have backup gear?

YESS!!! II have a backup camera body, lenses, batteries, hard-drives and I back up the images in camera while shooting. Don’t worry, your images are safe with me!

8. What outfit should we wear for our photoshoot?

Great question! Leading up to your shoot I will send you a detailed guide on all things style! From the number of outfits, color of clothing and ways to accessorize…I’ve gotchu covered!

9. How many photos are included?

Every session and wedding are different and I shoot to capture the day as it unfolds, rather than attempt to force a final number. I don’t promise an exact number or give a cutoff number. For couples sessions, I deliver approximately 75+ high-res edited images. For weddings, I deliver approximately 500+ files and 300+ for elopements.

10. How long does it take for me to get my images?

Delivery times for weddings and elopements are 6-9 weeks, while couples sessions take a maximum of 6 weeks to land in your inbox. I try to get them back to you as soon as possible, but I always want to make sure they are ready for you to enjoy!

11. How do I receive my images?

I deliver all high-resolution files in an online gallery for digital download. I recommend (really I instruct) that you download and back up your photos right away! And go print some of those babies and get them on the wall!

12. Do you do partnerships with brands and other businesses?

YES, and I love doing them! There are so many brands, businesses and non-profits out there doing amazing things and I love the chance to work with others! Shoot me an email if you are interested in connecting!

13. How do I book you?

My booking process is very simple. All you have to do is fill out my contact form saying you are ready to take this relationship to the next level! I’ll respond within 24 hours with loads of excitement and probably a meme of Jimmy Fallon dancing (you know the one). A signed digital contract and a non-refundable retainer fee seals the deal!

14. Do you give out RAW (unedited) photos?

That’s a resounding no from me! I once heard it put that asking a photographer for their RAW photos is like asking a master artist for their unfinished painting. Editing is half the art and half the fun!

15. How much editing is done on the images?

I select and edit all final images for color, exposure, composition and style. I’m not into “skinny editing” and extensive image processing because I believe you and your story are perfect the way you are! Don’t worry though…when it comes to minor blemishes (like a pimple or a temporary scar), I’m happy to brush it out of the photos.

16. Why is wedding photography so expensive?

I get it…photography is an investment! As a wedding photographer, my job starts long before your wedding and continues after the party is over. For each couple I spend hours emailing, facetiming, meeting for coffee, building timelines, location scouting, and all the other details that go into planning a wedding. Then I travel to the wedding, shoot 4-8 hours and then back-up all the photos to two separate backup drives before I even go to sleep that night. In the weeks following, I work on culling, editing, sending sneak previews, creating the final gallery and sending it over for you to enjoy! In total, I spend 5X the amount of hours on each couple’s wedding then I do photographing their actual wedding day.

16. Why is wedding photography so expensive?

I get it…photography is an investment! But the job of a photographer is not like your DJ or Caterer. As a wedding photographer, my job starts long before your wedding and continues on after the party is over. You aren’t just paying for the coverage on your wedding day or solely the images you receive, but for the MANY hours I spend outside of the actual wedding day to provide you with an awesome experience. Here’s a bit of a look at the breakdown:
For each couple I spend hours emailing, facetiming, meeting for coffee (or wine), building wedding day timelines, location scouting, and all the other details that go into planning a wedding. Then I travel to the wedding (which sometimes means multiple overnights), shoot 4-8 hours and then back-up ALL THE PHOTOS to two separate backup drives before I even go to sleep that night. In the weeks following, I work on culling, editing, sending sneak previews, creating the final gallery and sending it over for you to enjoy! In total, I spend 5X the amount of hours on each couple’s wedding then I do photographing their actual wedding day. Add to all of that the cost of doing business (buying gear, insurance, software, websites, etc.) and how dang good I am at what I do – heck, you’re getting a steal and I can still barely pay my mortgage in California!
